WHAT IS SKILLSCENE?
Skillscene exists to bring together employers - commercial and subsidised, trade unions, trade associations and practitioners to influence, promote and support the provision and uptake of high quality, industry relevant Continuing Professional Development for theatre workers, particularly but not exclusively for those working in Technical, Production and Crafts fields of theatre practice.
Skillscene aims to:
Provide a network for all organisations representing different disciplines in Technical theatre, enabling the sector to speak with a single voice on matters relating to Continuing Professional Development
Ensure that the Continuing Professional Development needs of the Technical Theatre workforce are identified and articulated to Creative and Cultural Skills (the Sector Skills Council for the Creative and Cultural Industries)
Ensure that Continuing Professional Development for theatre workers is perceived by employers, employees and freelancers to be credible, valuable and accessible
Ensure that such participation is achieved through provision being employer-led, industry relevant and appropriately flexible to respond to industry practice
Ensure that employers, employees and freelancers in the industry are encouraged and facilitated in the take up of Continuing Professional Development opportunities
