Nick Moran

Nick represents the Association of Lighting Designers on the Board of Skillscene. He has worked in lighting for live performance for over 25 years, on projects ranging in scale from fringe theatre to stadium rock variously as a freelance lighting designer, programmer, project and production manager, In 2001, he joined English National Opera as a Lighting Manager. At ENO, Nick worked with Tony Bond, contributing to a model CPD framework for the ENO’s Technical Department.

Nick joined the Theatre Practice course team at Central School of Speech and Drama in 2003, taking responsibility for both the Lighting Design and Production Lighting strands of the undergraduate course, and the Lighting Design strand of the MA Advanced Theatre Practice. In 2005 he took on additional responsibility for the Design Pathway of the BA Theatre Practice, which includes Lighting Design, Set and Costume Design, and Sound Design.

Nick continues to practice as a Lighting Designer; his work was included in Collaborators, an exhibition of contemporary theatre design at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2007/8, and also at the forthcoming Word Stage Design exhibition in Seoul (2009). Nick published the text book “Performance Lighting Design” in 2007, and regularly contributes to Focus, the magazine of the ALD.
